Back again on our third forum now. xD Hopefully this one sticks. Anyways, editing wise I'm a member of Death Rebel Studios (we have auditions going on right now so if you want to join, or are interested post here; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMJk9DerwtA), and Coded Deceptions Studios (https://www.youtube.com/user/DeceptionsStudios). I frequently make MEP parts a lot more than my own regular videos. I don't know if you can really label my style but it's like 50% effect whore and 50% raw. It all depends on which video it is I'm making. Like my MEP part for CDS, is completely effected whored, but you can't give me Linkin Park with a ton of beats and expect me NOT to. xD

OTHERWISE, I'm Sam, I have a weird habit of baking a ton because it's one of the few things that clears my head. Another one of those things is ATV'ing, which I love, and I have my own dune buggy for it. It's shiny, and red, and the shocks are awesome. xD and if you knew how I ride, you'd understand that a lot more (I've had it up on two wheels ;D). Imma Senior this year! and graduating June 2012. and I finished most of my credits, so I'm all good.

Uhh, I'm an exteremely good rambler, waaaaay too open, and a "bit" of a bitch if you really piss me off. xD But don't worry, that takes awhile and you have to REALLY rub a nerve to do that much.

Hahaha, thanks. it looks better as you go on, but I so effect whored it so bad. xD And I'm like ten to sixteen seconds in. Haha, and on vacation, so I won't finish it in time sadly. D: But if you want I got a lot of the spare footage from a site and i can send it to you. xD

And yeah, I have a friend who swears my Snickerdoodle cookies are the best thing ever, and my chocolate chip cookie is pretty classic too. xD Mostly though I just make cookies, I've tried cakes before, but they come our pretty dry unless you add plain yogurt. xD

Ahahaha, thanks. Seriously though, I'm back on my computer I can send yu my textures and stock footage and such. I still hate the black though. I'm probably going to take a screen shot of Kairi at the beginning, neutralize that with black and white 100% then add overexposed black and white to really pull it out like at the end and have it sort of do the same swish-y motion, but different, and transparent. Or I'll kill it entirely. . .xD

Ahhhh, I would be really excited if you sent me some cool textures. I'm getting super bored with mine, and none of them ever look good on my vids anyways. =/ But that sounds like a good idea! It sounds like it'll be super epic. =]

Who cares if it's busy? Yours can be busy enough to make up for the lack-of-busy in my part, hahah. =] It'll be like going from Steamboat Willy in KH2 to Port Royal. XD

Hahaha, give me a few minutes and I'll post the links to the stock footage I'm using on it. I actually steal a lot of it from that Pond5 site with CameraWiz and then alter it to get rid of the watermark ('cause I hate the watermarks in them and when people LEAVE them on the videos, it's annoying IMO) and then add them in.

It's usually pretty easy to get the watermarks off though, and if you have trouble just message me. Or something, always happy to help.

I don't know why 'big' editors always just keep how they edit secret and where they get textures and stuff from everyone else. I mean, it's just editing.

I get all my textures from photobucket and dA. ._. I usually credit where I get them from, though - don't know why somebody wouldn't. It really doesn't make any difference, in my opinion. I'd tell somebody how I edit if they asked. Because even if you know HOW the mechanics of it work, it's really more about talent than the know-how, if you ask me.

Well I personally can, but I'm sort of a computer geek. I even know BB Code and HTML on a basic level if you need help with formatting the background after you make a new one for the site (if you are, I thought I read somewhere that you were trying to, if not I'm still here if you need me, haha).

Yeeeah, I used to, but I like moving footage better, and I can't really credit Pond5. xD But I admit that I steal them from there at least. . .? Haha. Yeah. Imma dork, but you're right. It is about talent too, but if you go through all my old accounts and such up to now it's also a lot of technical knowledge too.

Like if you told me I could layer video when I was using WMM and that there were better editing programs when I first started I would've been like, "NO WAY." Now I'm working with Sony Vegas 7.0. Haha.

I dunno, part of me wants to start doing Adobe, too, but I really want to keep it semi-simple for now. I do plan on getting a degree in film and graphic arts when I get older though.

Open three layers. Stick one of the stock on the bottom, one on top and any footage you want in between, then either try chorma keying out the blue frames (or do what I did and mask them out, they move slowly and at a steady pace so it should only take a few frames if you CAN mask) make footage in between transparent to the level you want it to blend in with the frames.

Simple. Chroma key out the color you don't want. Use inverse to change white to black.

Could you teach me how to remove watermarks? I don't want to have to bother you every time I need one removed. ._.

Well, the nice thing is most of them come out when you chroma key out a major color. Like the orange flicker one, and light refractions for the most part, but a few, like the Orange and Pink Glitter, don't.

So on those ones you have to get kind of inventive. Like chroma keying out one color and putting a solid one behind it to match again, or as I do on that one, and mask out the "Pond5" and then take a gradient and fill in the gap.

A few of them require masking, sadly. But if you really need help with those it doesn't take too long, and most textures (how I edit, at least) go underneath, so a lot of the time you can also cover the watermarks if you place things strategically.

So it CAN be a bit of work to get rid of them, but IMO, it looks better than having "POND 5" in the middle of your video.

Oh hey, Sam? Can you help me with that whole formatting thing? Like, I don't know how wide/tall to make the background and stuff. I want to make separate sections (where the current swirlie things are), so that a character doesn't disappear or something behind the forum itself, and also make headers and stuff. But I don't know how to do anything except make it - lengthxwidth and stuff like that. Could you help me?

Hahaha, well the site to make the background even just like this is formatted. It's strings of code that place certain areas in the 'right' place. So to format the entire site I'd have to know how the codes work, and how the layout is set up.

Unless this is like YouTube, but I'm willing to bet it's not.

Is there any way to like, measure on-screen how wide/tall the preview is? Like... whatever button it is that allows you to copy your desktop or something.

I don't think so. What type of forum is this? Usually you can find a guide online about the right dimensions for backgrounds.
