FullMoon wo sagashite

Post by BlackLolitarose on Mon Aug 02, 2010 2:18 am

One of my very favorite mangas in the world.
Here is the story. But there's always more to a story then you think...
12-year old Mitsuki Koyama is happy, and loves singing. Her dream is to become a singer. But keeping her from this life-long wish is a malignant tumor growing in her throat. Unless she undergoes surgery, she will die. But having the surgery will take away her voice, and she will never be able to sing again, so she refuses it. A long time ago, she promised her love, Eichi, that when she met him again she would be a singer. So, she continues toward her dream no matter what. But things aren't looking good for her...
Things change when two mysterious figures appear in her bedroom. Takuto, and Meroko, the Harbingers of death. They tell her she only has a year to live. Mitsuki asks for their help, and out of pity for the girl, they give her a chance. They transform her into a healthy, sixteen-year old girl named Fullmoon! Now, Mitsuki's dreams of seeing Eichi again, and becoming a singer, are closer.

When most people read the summary, and see the cover, they make a snap-judgement about this book. (which just about anybody would do...) Automatically, you're going to think this is a cute, little shojo-story. Very light, and fun. Not at all serious. A story about a girl and her path to becoming a singer.
But, you're wrong.
The part of her wanting to be a singer, is actually a small part of the story.
The first two books center around the summary I just gave. When I read the first two, I thought "it's pretty good, but not GREAT. Just a cute little story..."
That changed when I got to book three.
Trust me. Book three changes the series completely, and it's never the same afterwards. It's barely about her singing career anymore.... I seriously cried HARD when I read book three, and four. (and five too...)

This book has an amazing story. (in my opinion.)
The theme of it would probably be "second chances are possible, even after death."
It is actually a very deep story, with a lot of meaning to it. And NONE of this applies to the part where she's trying to be a singer. (Although, following your dreams is very important...)
I always tell my friends before book 3, "you're going to cry. Even if you don't want to."
Fullmoon is an amazing book. I HIGHLY reccomend it. It's probably my second favorite mange. And for those of you who know my first favorite is vampire knight... Well, that should tell you something about this book.
Try it out.
Available at most libraries and almost every bookstore there is! (especially in America.)

I like TakutoxMitsuki better too, actually. Pining for a dead dude is kind of bad, you know? Hahaha. Mostly I love the song "Eternal Snow" though. Showed the English translation to him on my iPod and he actually listened to the whole thing through!

Hahaha, and if you saw him you'd get why it's funny. He's not the sort of guy you'd expect to listen to a sappy, Japanese love song all the way through and like it.

Hahaha. Yeah, sorry, I thought I wrote my boyfriend there! I need to proof read more. My typing teacher always told me that too. I was like, "NO!" It is a pretty annoying task. Anyways. . .

I always loved Takuto and Meroko's name for themselves. When they introduce themselves as a team all excited and then they're just some ramen dish or something. Haha. It's been awhile since I first watched the series. But that always made me laugh.

And then Takuto gets all emo and depressed at the end because she won't let go of Eichi.

Yeah, well. Sorry I can't share your love of the anime.
I am for the book. Forever and ever. No matter what. Wink I've never seen the show. And I don't really want to. (no offense.) The book is enough for me.
I luvies it SOOOO much! XD
And I really hope you have read the book, becuase it is amazing.
For instance, my signiture. (which sucks by the way...)
But I put my FAVORITE line from Mitsuki in it. I don't know if she says that in the show...
I know I've never seen it, but I can't help but think it looks more... juvenile than the books. There's no reason why you shouldn't like it, I just don't... for that reason...
I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

I don't know. I mean, in some ways it probably is, but the song sounds much more pretty in then anime than in the books. Hahaha.

I've never read them though. And for the record, you don't suck at signatures. It's pretty easy to make them. I made mine in Vegas actually with a quote from the now infamous boyfriend I won't shut up about. . .haha, yeah. . .anyways. It's true.

I've seen bits of the anime, and yeah... it's sort of a kid show... Not that that's a bad thing, but compared to the book, it might as well be a different story. I mean, the story in the books is just so strong and emotional. And SOOO sad.
But, I get why you might like the show just for an awsome song. ^^ Especially if you love the song enought to make it your user name. XD

Hahaha, yeah, I first watched the anime when I was fourteen and I'm seventeen now. . .so, yeeeeah, I mean, you wouldn't think much could change in three years but OMG it's possible. So it's been years, and year since I've seen the anime

That's why I can't remember it. But yeah, I love the song. So much it's pretty sad. The English translation is just really pretty and emotional and I love it.

/hadtoinserttheEnglishtranslationhere

I fell in love with you. . .just how long has it been since then?
My feelings have only been getting stronger
I wonder. . .
Have you realized how I feel?
Even though I’ve never said a word. . .
Its like snowflakes. . .drifting. . .gently
Continuing to pile up. . .higher and higher.

Hold me tight. . .if this is how it feels. . .
The feeling of falling in love with someone. . .
I never wanted to know that feeling.
I love you. . .I can’t stop my tears from falling. . .
In that case, then you . . .should have never come into my life.

I wonder. . .
How long will I keep thinking about you?
My breath is fogging up the window glass.
My trembling hearts is. . .
Next to the lit candle. . .
And melting now. . .I wonder. . .
. . .will it survive?

Hold me tight. . .so tight that I might break. . .
So that when we meet in the frigid gale of a blizzard. . .
I won’t be cold anymore.
I miss you. . .
I think of you. . .so far away. . .

With this hand-knit muffler. . .
. . .I’m here alone, holding myself again tonight.

If the snow keeps falling forever. . .
. . .will it cover up my feelings for you?

Hold me tight. . .if this is how it feels. . .
The feeling of falling in love with someone. . .
I never wanted to know that feeling.
I love you. . .It’s filling up my heart. . .

I want to shout to the winter sky. . .
I want to meet you right now.

Hold me tight

I love you

Wow. Those are really beautiful song lyrics.
And since I've read the book, I can say that that REALLY sounds like a song Mitsuki would write. It really sounds like the lyrics of her other songs. XD
