The Hunger Games
This book is an awsome, action-packed story! It has awsome main characters, battle scenes, and a bit of romance too! I'm not gonna try to explain it in my own words, because I'll make it sound stupid. So I'm gonna go off a book summary for it I had to memorize once.
If you only like to read High School romances, mainly based on "He just broke up with me", or "my best friends stole my boyfriend", chances are you're not going to like this. It also has a bit of violence. But nothing too terrible.
--- In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem. A shining capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The capitol is harsh, and cruel, and controls it's citizens by forcing each district to send one boy and one girl each year to participate in the annual Hunger Games; A fight to the death on live TV.
Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister doesn't ever expect to be picked for the Hunger Games. But when her younger sister is picked, she is forced to go in her place. Now, she will have to fight to survive in a massive arena filled with 23 other people. Will she survive together with her male partner, Peeta Mellark?
Winning means fame and fortune.
Losing means certian death.
The Hunger Games have begun.
I'm sorry if the summary was confusing at parts. I couldn't remember everything, so I had to improvise at parts. But if you think it sounds awsome, it's actually better than the summary.
If you don't think it sounds very good, the summary doesn't do a great job. But I love it! I have never encountered someone who has read it and not liked it!
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Gaurenteed to provide you with a new awsome favorite!
(And they're making a movie for it, but read the book first. The movie's gonna suck. XP)

Re: The Hunger Games
Whoa. That does sound kewl. I haven't been to Borders or Barns N' Noble in FOREVER. I have this gift card my aunt gave me for my birthday for one of those stores. I think I will totally check this out. I need to get something new up on my little book collection. I swear to God, I'm going to be an Elinor when I get older. All my shelves in my room have books on them except for ONE. Well, two...But my CD shelf/rack thing doesn't count xD. Yes, I am a freak when it comes to books. I love reading more than watching TV really..-dies- My mom keeps me out of libraries most of the time too, because I get like...Five books everytime -shifty eyes-
Re: The Hunger Games
Welcome to the club! I also LOVE to read. But not just books, manga too! I have a shelf full of books, a box full of books, and a box full of manga. You get FIVE books when you go to the library!? Well, that's nothing. (hee hee) I get around thirteen whe I go to the library. If I'm getting manga, I can get up to three bags full in one trip! I love to be surrounded by books! Lately, I haven't been reading as much... I need to go to the library! You would LOVE my friend Paige. You think YOU read a lot? You think I read a lot??? NO ONE reads more than she does. She reads more than anyone I've ever met in my life, and probably will ever meet. She reads a book a day, sometimes two. And they are NOT tiny books. All she ever does is read. She gets in trouble for reading in SCHOOL! She's crazy. XD
Re: The Hunger Games
MANGA!!! <3 I love reading that too. I was a crazy Vampire Knight and Fruits Basket freak for a long time. And thirteen books..? My library only allows us to take ten. But my mother won't let me get so much. I used to read a book a day too, but I've been so busy with school and watching my little brother and sister and helping my friend with her wedding plans. We had to read a book over the summer before entering high school freshman year. (I'm gonna be a junior now, but whatever xD.) Anyway, my bestfriend lent me the book first because he didn't feel like reading. I finished it in a day, returned it to him the next day, and he stared at me in awe. And OMG a very close friend of mine reads in school too.. She's nuts. When we were in middle school, she'd bring a book out on field-day. Not sure if you have that, but its just a whole day of playing sports. She'd read on our way to our next station, she read whenever she wasn't up for bat, she even tried reading while actually in the middle of playing kick-ball but she got in trouble for that. xD
Wow, I really need to go book shopping. I've read everything in this house. And I have such little manga now because my jerk of an older brother sold almost all my manga because he thought I didn't want it anymore just because it was in a box. I usually put my books up on shelves xD

Re: The Hunger Games
Wow, we have SO much in common! Your friend sounds EXACTLY like my frined! And Vampire Knight, and Fruits Basket!? Those just happen to be my two favorite mangas in the world!
I feel bad that your library only lets you have ten. I have no idea how much my library lets me take, but apparently I haven't gone over the limit yet! Does your library at least have an anime night??? My library does. And everyone there is my friend, so pretty much every anime night we get to the library, watch anime, and have a party! XD

Re: The Hunger Games
Anime night? No, we don't have that. /sadface. MY LIBRARY IS FILLED WITH OLD LADIES THAT STARE AT YOU UNTIL YOUR FORCED TO RUN AWAY BEHIND A BOOKSELF AND HIDE. I swear she followed me once. I turned around and there she was, casually putting books on the shelf. Watching me. o.o
I wish we had anime night ;-;

Re: The Hunger Games
Aww, that's okay! :'( We are LUCKY! Most of the people at my library are old ladies too... But there is one girl. She's in her twenties, and she's so cool! She's the one who supervises us on anime night, and runs it. I always thought she was there becuase somebody had to watch us, but it turns out she's a fangirl too! She even talks to us about anime! XD
Anyway, I feel sad for you... Are there at least any cons in your area? Or maybe an anime club at your highschool???

Re: The Hunger Games
NEVER GET IN!? That's rediculous! They should be happy to have more people! I'd let you in my anime club!
Re: The Hunger Games
Haha, thanks. I know, they should. But its a school club and they always have restrictions because the teacher's never like having more than twenty kids in their class because they're mean. Dx
